Health
Adult body mass index calculation with WHO weight categories.
The health tools on CalculatesAll give screening numbers, not diagnoses. The BMI calculator uses the standard formula and the World Health Organization adult weight categories, in metric or imperial units.
- BMI Calculator
Calculate adult body mass index in metric or imperial units with WHO weight category ranges.
How to use the health tool
The BMI calculator asks for weight and height and gives one screening number for adults. You can enter values in metric or imperial units. Choose the unit first, then enter the numbers.
Measure your weight in the morning in light clothes and your height without shoes. Use the same method each time you check, so the numbers can be compared fairly.
What the result means
The result shows which World Health Organization weight category your number falls in. It is a starting point for a conversation with a doctor. It does not show body fat, muscle, or fitness.
When to see a professional
If your weight changes quickly, if you are pregnant, if you are a child or a teenager, or if you have any health concern, speak to a doctor or qualified health professional. Do not change medicines or diet based only on a calculator result.
Questions
Should I use BMI to decide if I am healthy?
BMI is one screening measure. It does not show body fat or fitness directly. Discuss your result with a doctor or health professional.
